Saturn

In Astrology the planet Saturn is the ruler of Aquarius and Capricorn and is thought to symbolize karmic influences. This celestial body focuses on responsibilities but also on the ageing process of life and in a birth chart position it emphasizes areas needing structure. As Saturn has a 29 year cycle it often indicates the time when an individual will have to take responsibility for his or her own actions. Scorpio

Scorpio is the 8th sign of the zodiac and is represented by the symbol of a Scorpion. There is some controversy over the ruling planet of this particular sign as it is traditionally ruled by Mars. In recent years astrologers have assigned Pluto as co-ruler and some believe this planet to be it's only ruler. Scorpio is a Water and Fixed sign that has the keywords ' I desire'. Typical traits of Scorpio's are that they are determined, passionate and intuitive. These individual's born from October the 24th to November the 22nd can also be prone to jealousy and to being rather secretive and obstinate.

Secondary Progression

A Secondary Progression chart is compiled by taking a person's date of birth and adding one day for each year they have been alive. So for example an individual who is 16 would have sixteen days added on to their birth date for astrological calculations and analysis. The only real difference being in the starting ascendant point as this has 'progressed' along with age in years of the person concerned.

Sect

In Astrology the word Sect is an ancient term for classifying astrological celestial bodies depending on their position. If a planet or star is above the line of the horizon it is regarded as being in the diurnal sect. If it is situated below it is considered to be in the nocturnal sect. The diurnal planetary orbs are the Sun, Jupiter and Saturn while the Moon, Venus and Mars are nocturnal. The planet Mercury is thought to change its sect according to whether it is oriental or occidental of the Sun. When a planetary body is in its assigned sect it is said to be at its most powerful.

Semi

The word Semi is a prefix meaning 'a half' and is used quite regularly in Astrology to describe diurnal and nocturnal arcs and aspects. It denotes any semi-arcs towards the horizon, midheaven or meridian seen on a birth chart. A semi-arc is usually calculated in degrees but it can also be measured by time. Semi is also allocated in front of some minor benefic aspects like the decile, quintile, sextile and square. When these astrological angles or curved lines are only partly formed they are named semi to differentiate them from complete formations. The strength and influence of a Semi is not as powerful but still has some significance.

Separation

Separation in Astrology refers to a celestial body moving away from an exact aspect and so 'separating' from its influence. In Horary Astrology when Separation occurs it involves a faster moving planet travelling from the path of a slower one. The action is meant to have a weakening effect upon the aspect formation. In a natal chart setting separated aspects do not have the same strong influence of an applying aspect. They also focus on events that have already happened rather than things that are predicted and possible. This makes them useful for identifying timed events in a person's life as markers for further investigation.

Septile

In Astrology the Septile is an aspect thought to be connected to Karma and measuring just over 51 degrees. It is named Septile as it divides the 360 degree wheel of the zodiac equally into seven divisions. For astrological analysis purposes a Septile aspect is believed to reveal what sort of things will inspire someone and therefore motivate them to act. For in depth inspection of the natal charts any of these particular aspects will also highlight the level of a person's responsiveness. This can be especially revealing when viewing birth maps to consider the likely compatibility of 2 people.
