Seventh House
The Seventh House in a person's natal chart is the place where you are able to find clues to the likelihood of successful personal relationships. This is because this particular area in a birth configuration relates to all kinds of partnerships whether in marriage, socially or concerning business. The Seventh House is associated with the star sign of Libra and is classed as an Angular House that is regarded neither harmonious nor disharmonious. It is ruled by the planet Venus and conveys the inner identity and individuality of a person rather than just the way they present themselves to the world.
Sextile
The Sextile is a 60 degree aspect and one of the 5 major aspects used in Astrology, although it is considered the weakest of them in terms of astrological strength. A Sextile is a favorable aspect as it is thought to channel its energies into making positive angular connections. Modern angle calculations allow a Sextile an orb of 6 degrees and its influence will rely on its closeness to being partile. The indications provided by the Sextile depend on the planets involved. Moon Sextiles emphasize a person's drive, Mercury's highlight curiosities, Venus Sextiles reflect affection and Mars's will shed light on an individual's aggression levels.
Short Ascension
Short Ascension is the astrological term used to describe the 6 zodiac signs lying in the Northern Hemisphere. These are Gemini, Taurus, Aries, Pisces, Aquarius and Capricorn and they are termed Short Ascension signs as they take the least time to ascend over the horizon. The astrologer Lilly suggested that aspects involving any of the Short Ascension signs would shrink into the next major aspect formation. These particular sign placements may see square aspects acting like sextiles and trines mimicking squares. Those signs that lie opposite Short Ascension signs are located in the Southern Hemisphere and are reversely called Long Ascension signs.
Sidereal
The Sidereal zodiac is an alternative to the Tropical method as it is based on the fixed positions of heavenly constellations. Rather than concentrating on the moving coordinates of planets this type of Astrology focuses on a more static predetermined background. A sidereal day occurs when the Earth has made a full revolution of its axis and does not take into account the path of the Sun or earthly seasons. For the preparation of birth charts the time a person was born is often calculated in sidereal time. This gives the birth place latitude points in order to be able to accurately place the positions of house cusps.
Sign
The word Sign is derived from the Latin signum thought to mean 'mark, signal, image' and today indicates a significant object, pattern, action or event. In Astrology it refers to the symbolic representations of the zodiac determined by Greek and Chinese mythological history. The 12 signs of Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces are the Western astrological signs. For natal charts the Earth's rotation on the Eastern horizon determines the person's Ascendant or Rising Sign. This particular signs positioning is always important and provides a revealing starting point for all types of birth chart analysis.
Sixth House
The Sixth House in an astrological chart is thought to concern a person's health, their daily routine, job and personal development. It is said to be ruled by the sign of Virgo and the planet Mercury and is considered a cadent house. The Sixth House is believed to reveal challenges that may be presented in an individual's life and highlight opportunities for personal growth and improvement. This focus on possible experiences and direction is intensified by the celestial body located at the cusp point of the 6th house. This particular house is often consulted in relation to gaining an insight of a person's physical constitution.
Solar
The term Solar relates to anything connected to the Sun and is used quite frequently in astrological writings. A Solar cycle is the measurement of the number of flares or sunspots in an 11 year duration. The Solar Minimum is the start and end of this cycle and the Solar Maximum identifies the midpoint where this cyclic period peaks and intensifies. A Solar Return is a natal chart construction based on the timed birth moment that the Sun returns to its degree of longitude. A Solar Arc is used in progressed horoscope methods where 1 degree is representative of 1 year with natal configuration positions adjusted accordingly.
