Jose Placido Domingo Embil was born on January 21, 1941 in Madrid Spain. He spent most of his life living in Mexico City where he graduated with the Mexico City Conservatory. He sang in La Traviata in Monterrey and the moved on to sing with the Israel National Opera. Domingo worked with Joe Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti. They were the Three Tenors.
Domingo received a John F. Kennedy Centre Honor in 2000, was named to head the L.A. Opera, and in 1986 was awarded the Aztec Eagle medal for his goodwill acts in Mexico after the search, rescue and reconstruction of Mexico City in 1985.
He has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and has been the grand marshal at the East Los Angeles California Mexican Independence Parade. Domingo was married to Ana Maria Guerra in 1957 and they are divorced with one child. He them married Marta Ornelas in 1962 until the present time and they have two children.
Domingo has a ringing and dramatic tone and as of the end of 2013 he has sung 144 different roles. He wrote and composed There Will Be Love.
