Thomas William Selleck is a film producer and actor known for his portrayal as Thomas Magnum on the 1980s series Magnum, P.I. He also plays Jesse Stone in TV movies and is Commissioner Frank Reagan in Blue Bloods (2010).
Born on January 29, 1945, Selleck, better known as Tom Selleck, grew up in Detroit Michigan and developed his trade mark moustache and Hawaiian shirts to reflect his personality. In addition to being an actor and producer, Selleck has a symbolic doctorate from Pepperdine University for his exceptional character and ethics. He is on the board of Michael Josephson Institute of Ethics and a creator of the Character Counts Coalition.
His first television appearance was on The Fating Game in 1965 and in 1967. He then appeared in commercials for Pepsi. He stared in six failed TV pilots before Magnum P.I. became a hit. Selleck joined the Detroit Tigers in 1992 to prepare for his film Mr. Baseball. Selleck has made movies that include Quigley Down Under in 1990, Lassiter in 1985 and 3 Men and a Baby in 1987.
He was married to Jacqueline Ray from 1971 to1982. They divorced and Selleck adopted Jacqueline's son. He married Julie Mack in 1987 and they are still married. They have one child Hannah who is a show jumper.
