Born on March 30, 1968 in Quebec, Canada, Celine Dion is a French singer who recorded nine albums by the time she was 18. Her first English language album Unison was in 1990. Her breakthrough came in 1992 when she recorded the theme to Beauty and the Beast which won a Grammy and an Academy Award. Next came The Power of Love, My Heart Will Go On and Because You Loved Me.
C?line Marie Claudette Dion was the youngest of 14 children and grew up in a very musical family. Dion's Family was a musical group that toured Canada and later they operated a piano bar. At the age of 12 Celine and her mother sent a demo tape to producer Rene Angelil. He immediately signed her to a contract and mortgaged his home to finance her first album La Voix du bon Dieu (The Voice of God).
In 1993 Celine released her album The Colour of My Love which showcased Celine's romantic ballads. In 1994 Celine married Rene Angelil at Montreal's Notre Dame Basilica. In 1996 Celine sang The Power of the Dream at the Atlanta Summer Olympics. That same year her album Falling into You acquired Grammy Awards for musical rendition of the year. In 1997 she sang the title song to Titanic, My Heart Will Go On. This song won an Academy award for best song.
In 1998 Celine won six awards including artist of the year and album of the year. She began a 14-coutry tour that ended in Montreal on December 31, 1999. She took off part of 2000 to focus on her family and underwent fertility treatments. On January 25, 2001 Celine gave birth to Rene-Charles. In 2010 she gave birth to twin boys and fought with her husband against his skin cancer.
In 2002 Celine returned with A New Day Has Come and in 2003 she began a three year arrangement at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Celine is still a popular entertainer and is currently working with her new single Incredible. Her music video is joined by Ne-Yo.
