Born on April 1, 1932 in El Paso, Texas Mary Frances Reynolds aka Debbie Reynolds is a diminutive, perky film and stage star. She spends her spare time creating a Hollywood museum with 3000 costumes and 46,000 square feet of props and equipment.
Reynolds was selected to be a dancer in Singin' in the Rain in 1952. She learned dancing and continued acting. In 1964 she was nominated for an Oscar for her performance in The Unsinkable Molly Brown. She returned to the stage after her second husband gambled away her fortune. She owned a casino in Las Vegas until 1997.
She opened the Hollywood Motion Picture Collection near the Kodak Theatre in 2002 and includes Judy Garland's ruby slippers, John Wayne's guns and Marilyn Monroe's dresses.
Her Broadway debut was in 1973 in the stage production of Irene. She received a Tony Award nomination for the Best Actress. In 1976 Reynolds appeared in on-woman show named Debbie!
Reynolds is President of the Thalians an organization that teats mental health at Cedar Sinai in Los Angeles. She has been actively involved in this charity for thirty years.
Reynolds was married to Eddie Fisher in 1955 to 1959. They divorced and Eddie married Elizabeth Taylor. They had two children. She married Harry Karl in 1960 until 1973 when they divorced. She then married Richard Hamlett in 1984 until their divorce in 1996.
