Bernard Blier (January 11, 1916) is a French actor characterized by rotund features and baldness. He often plays hen-pecked husbands, but is all reality a very versatile actor. Blier has played in 138 films including Italian films that were prominent during his later acting years. He won the Honorary Cesar (the French Oscar in 1989.)
Blier acted in many of his son's, Bertrand Blier's films. Blier was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina to French parents who encouraged his acting skills. Most fans recognize Blier for his roles in The Tall Blond Man with One Black Shoe (1927) Buffet Froid(1979) and Monsieur Gangster (1963). He married Gisele Brunet in 1937 and they divorced in 1965. Blier has one son, the film director. After his divorce in 1965, he quickly married Annette Martin. Bernard Blier died on March 29, 1989 in Saint-Cloud, Hauts-de-Seine, France from cancer.
