Diane Hall (Annie Hall, Diane Keaton) was born on January 5, 1946. Her home town is Los Angeles, California. She started college at Santa Ana College but dropped out to work at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York. She appeared in summer stock and received her first major stage role in Hair. She was understudy to the lead and gained attention by not removing her clothing. Woody Allen cast her in Play it Again, Sam in 1970. She and Allen were involved and this gave Keaton the impetus to appear in a number of his films. She was Kay in the Godfather in 1972 and again in The Godfather: Part II in 1974. She appeared with Woody Allen in Sleeper 1973 and Love and Death in 1975.
In 1977 Keaton appeared in looking for Mr. Goodbar which gave her a Golden Globe nomination. She starred in Annie Hall in 1977. She won an Oscar and a British Award for this film. She worked in a film a year for the next several years and these films were Allen's. When they split Keaton became attached to Warren Beatty and performed in Reds in 1981. She was awarded nominations for the Academy Award and a Golden Globe for Reds. She appeared in few films in the 1980s but did receive Oscar nominations for three of them. She directed Heaven in 1987 and some music videos. She directed one episode of Twin Peaks in 1990.
Keaton reprised her role in The Godfather: Part III in 1993 and appeared in Father of the Bride in 1991 and again in 1995 in Father of the Bride Part II. She received great acclaim for her feature film direction of Unstrung Heroes in 1995.
Keaton never married but she has two adopted children, Dexter Keaton and Duke Keaton. You can see Keaton in commercials for L'Oreal Paris Age Perfect skin makeup. She walked the Red Carpet at the Academy awards in a shiny black suit with a weird hat and shoes.
