Madonna

Originally born Madonna Louise Ciccone in Bay City, Michigan on August 16, 1958 one of the most prominent music icons for 30 hears is Madonna. She is an actress, entrepreneur and singer plus songwriter. She reinvents her mush and image and is immensely popular since she pushes the boundaries of lyrical content and imagery. She is often known as the Queen of Pop.
In 1977 she performed with Breakfast Club (music group) and in 1980 she signed with Sire Records and released Madonna in 1983. Madonna's next albums included Ray of Light in 1998, and Confessions on a Dance Floor in 2005 which won Grammy Awards.
Madonna has also filmed Desperately Seeking Susan in 1985 and Evita in 1996. She won a Golden Globe Award for this part. She is also a fashion designer, writes children's books and directs films. She is an entrepreneur and founded entertainment company Maverick in 1992.
Madonna is the bestselling female recording artist of all time and has marketed more than 300 million records worldwide. In 2008 Madonna was ranked by Billboard at number 2 in Billboard's Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists. Madonna has been listed in the 25 Most Powerful Women of the Past Century and is rated as the Greatest Woman in Music by VH1.
In 1982 through 1985 Madonna released Everybody, Burning Up, and her debut album Madonna. Holiday was her third single and first worldwide hit. Madonna was a fashion trend during the 1980s and in 1984 she released Like A Virgin. Material Girl was her next hit. To celebrate her success she married Sean Penn in 1985. (They quickly divorced).
The 1990s saw Madonna playing in A League of Their Own and recording the theme song This Used to Be My Playground. She produced Erotica her fifth studio album and Deeper and Deeper, Bad Girl, Fever, Rain and Bye Bye Baby from that album. She played in Body of Evidence which was mainly sadomasochism and bondage. The Girlie Show World Tour set off in 1993 and Madonna was a dominatrix encircled by topless dancers. In 1996 Madonna starred in Evita and produced You Must Love Me, and Don't Cry for Me Argentina. Also in 1996 Madonna delivered Lourdes Maria Ciccone Leon.
The 2000s see Madonna as performing at the Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief (2010) and her live album Sticky & Sweet Tour. She released the Material Girl Clothing line with her daughter Lourdes. Madonna was spectacular at the Super Bowl XLVI halftime show. Currently Madonna was on the 56th Annual Grammy Awards 2014 show where she performed Open Your Heart. She is now working on her thirteenth studio album.
