James Coburn

James Coburn arrived on August 31, 1928 from Laurel, Nebraska. He is a film and TV star and his first firms were westerns. He later worked in drama and comedy in Our Man Flint, Harry in Your Pocket, Cross of Iron, The President's Analyst. Coburn won an Oscar in 1998 for Affliction.
Coburn studied performance at Los Angeles City College and the University of Southern California. He moved to New York and became a student at Stella Adler Theatre School. He moved back to California and acted on stage in Billy Budd. Coburn worked in Bonanza and his film debut was Face of A Fugitive in 1959. In 1960 he stared in The Magnificent Seven, The Great Escape and The Americanization of Emily in 1964.
Coburn started up his own production company in 1967 and produced The President's Analyst. He co-directed Convoy in 1978.
Coburn has appeared opposite Mel Gibson in Maverick and Payback. He worked with Arnold Schwarzenegger in Eraser in 1996 and Eddie Murphy in The Nutty Professor. He gave an awesome performance in Affliction in 1998 which won Coburn an Academy Award.
James Harrison Coburn was married to Beverly Kelly from November 1959 until April 1979. They divorced and had one child. Coburn then married Paula O'Hara from 1993 until 2002. He was characterized for his lean frame and his portrayal of mean characters.
