Christopher Lee or Sir Christopher Frank Carandini Lee was born on May 27 in 1922. He sings and acts in American and English films. His best parts are villains and he was Count Dracula in popular Hammer Horror movies. He has also played in the James Bond movie, The Man with the Gold Gun in 1974, Saruman in The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and in the Hobbit film trilogy in 2014. He was Count Dooku in the Star Wars prequel trilogy in 2002 and 2005.
Lee has been knighted for his services to drama and charity in 2009 and received the BAFTA Fellowship in 2001 and 2003. He considers his best performances to be Jinnah in 1998 and The Wicker Man in 1973. Lee has a deep strong voice and can sing. He has recorded opera and musical pieces and can be heard on the basically instrumental metal compilation Charlemagne: By the Sword and the Cross (2010). This was followed up with Charlemagne: The Omens of Death in 2013. He has won the Spirit of Metal award in 2010.
Lee moved to American and was cast in Airport '77. He appeared as a guest host on Saturday Night Live and Steen Spielberg cast him in 1941. Lee played Sherlock Holmes in Incident at Victoria Falls (1991) and Sherlock Holmes and the Leading Lady in 1992. He has made over twelve films for Hammer and Amicus Productions. Lee can be seen in Sleepy Hollow, voice on the Corpse Bride in 2005, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as Wonka's dentist father. He collaborated on Sweeney Todd in 2007, and played in Boogie Woogie in 2009.
Lee is good friends to Johnny Depp and played against him in Dark Shadows in 2012. Lee narrated the documentary Necessary Evil: Super-Villains of DC Comics in 2013. Lee has been named as a Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters in 2011 and was bestowed the Bram Stoker Gold Medal by Trinity College.
Lee has been married to Birgit Lee since 1961. They have a daughter Christina who provides spoken vocals with her father in From Chaos to Eternity.
