Steve Martin

Stephen Glenn Martin born August 14, 1945 is one of the best known American comedians. He is also astute at writing, producing as a musician and composer. He wrote for the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour and became a guest on The Tonight Show. He played in comedy houses and on national tours and in 2004 Comedy Central listed Martin at sixth place in its list of standup comics.
Martin has become a successful actor in dramatic roles as well as comedy, playwriting, pianist and a banjo player. He has won Emmy, American Comedy and Grammy awards. He is known for his arrow through the head hats as well as his ability to play fathers. He usually wears a white suite and his catch phrase is "Well, excuse Me" (sarcastically). He has prematurely white hair and his comedic role The Jerk (1979) brought him to the limelight.
He also works as a trustee of the Los Angeles Museum of Art and collects Georgia O'Keeffe, Helen Frankenthaler, Edward Hooper and Pablo Picasso paintings.
Martin has never been a cast member for Saturday Night Live, but he does regularly appear. He is the only actor to have hosted a season premiere, a season finale and a Christmas special for SNL.
Martin's performances include Three Amigos (1986), Bringing Down the House (2003), Cheaper by the Dozen (2003), The Pink Panther (2006) and Father of the Bride (1991) as well as Father of the Bride Part II (1995). He loves his work in Planes, Trains & Automobiles (1987). As a writer Martin has released Picasso at the Lapin Agile and Other Plays, Cruel Shoes, Shopgirl, Born Standing Up: a Comic's Life, Pure Drivel and The Underpants: A Play by Carl Sternheim.
Martin married Victoria Tennant in November of 1986 and they divorced in 1994. He is currently married to Anne Strongfield and they have one child.
