Matthew Paige Damon born on October 8, 1970 in Boston Massachusetts has an older brother who is a sculptor and his best friend is Ben Affleck. Matt is an actor, director and producer and he acted in theater productions during his time at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School. He went to Harvard University but dropped out of school to begin acting.
His minor roles in Mystic Pizza in 1988 and School Ties in 1992 plus Geronimo: An American Legend in 1993 were good for his career but his breakthrough was in Courage under Fire in 1996. He lost 40 pounds for this role which cause some health issues.
Matt and friend Ben Affleck acted and wrote the screenplay for Good Will Hunting (1997). They won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. Matt when on to star in Saving Private Ryan in 1998, The Talented Mr. Ripley in 1999 and Ocean's Eleven in 2001. He is also a cult following in The Bourne Trilogy. His credits also include The Departed in 2006, The Good Shepherd in 2006 and Invictus in 2009 which garnered him an Oscar nomination. Watch Matt in True Grit in 2010 and with Emily Blunt in The Adjustment Bureau. He is also great in 2013's The Monuments Men, and Elysium.
He is outspoken with his political views and does humanitarian work. He founded the H20 Africa Foundation, Not On Our Watch Project and ONE Campaign that fights AIDS in Third World countries. Matt is currently married to Luciana Barroso and they have four children.
