Michael John Douglas was born September 5, 1951 in Corapolis Pennsylvania and began his career in Night Shift a film starring Henry Winkler (1982) who remains a great friend of Keaton's. He was unsuccessful at stand-up comedy, began working as a TV cameraman, but decided he would rather be an actor.
You can see Keaton in Mister Rogers' Neighborhood (1968) and again in The Mary Tyler Moore Hour (1979). He changed his name from Michael Douglas to Michael Keaton to avoid confusion with the actor of the same name. His last name came from a listing of surnames in the K section and he just like the way Michael Keaton sounded. Keaton worked with James Belushi in Working Stiffs (1979), starred in Mr. Mom (1983), Johnny Dangerously (1984), Gung Ho in 1985 and Beetlejuice in 1988.
In 1989 Keaton's was cast as Bruce Wayne in Batman and his darkly sensational yet comedic portrayal showcased him perfectly against Jack Nicholson's over the top The Joker. Keaton's next film was Pacific Heights and Batman Returns (1992).
You can also see Keaton in Multiplicity with Andie MacDowell, Jackie Brown (1997), and First Daughter (2004). He is also in Herbie Fully Loaded (2005).
Keaton was married to Caroline McWilliams form June 1982 until January 1990. They have one son, Sean Maxwell Douglas.
