Jerry Lewis was born March 16, 1926. He is famous as an American comedian, film producer, film director, actor, singer and all around funny guy. Jerry originally worked with Dean Martin and formed the comedy team of Martin and Lewis.
Martin and Lewis worked in nightclubs and starred in a grouping of comedy films. They broke up after several years and went their solo ways. Jerry Lewis is known as the frontman for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and until 2011 handled their Labor Day Telethon. He is the national chairman of the MDA
Jerry has two stars on the Holly wood Walk of Fame, and has lifetime achievement award from The American Comedy Awards and Los Angeles Film Critics Association. The highest Emmy Award presented went to Jerry Lewis: The Governor's Award of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
From the 1950s to the 1970s Lewis worked in film and starred in The Delicate Delinquent (1957). Fans will remember Lewis in The Nutty Professor (1963) and Who's Minding the Store? He directed and wrote the film The Family Jewels. Lewis played most of the male roles in this film. He co-produced the television program The Jerry Lewis Show. Lewis went on to teach film directing at the University of Southern California and two of his students were Steven Spielberg and George Lucas.
