Ralph Nader

A well-known political activist, author, attorney and lecture was born February 27, 1934 in Connecticut. Ralph Nader fights for consumer protection, environment issues, and democratic government and is a humanitarian. His book Unsafe at Any Speed was a unique record of American automobile manufacturers and the Chevrolet Corvair. This book was ranked high among the 100 top pieces of journalism in the 20th Century.
Nader has run five times for president of the United Sates. He was a write-in candidate in 1992 as the Green Party nominee and ran as an independent in 2004 and 2008. Nader's other achievement included serving six months in active duty in the U.S. Army in 1959 and he was admitted to the bar in Harford, Connecticut. He was also an assistant professor of history and government at the University of Harford.
Nader moved to Washington, D. C. in 1964 as was appointed as an aide to Daniel Patrick Moynihan. He advised the U.S Senate on car safety. He also served on the faculty of the American University Washington College of Law.
Nader spend much of the 1970s educating the public on ecological issues. He claimed that hundreds of lakes and rivers in the U.S. were so polluted that the water was undrinkable. He started or inspired many nonprofit organizations including Citizen's Utility Boards, Citizen's Advocacy Center, Congress Accountability Project, and Disability Rights Center, Foundation for Taxpayers and Consumer Rights and Equal Justice Foundation.
2013 find Nader very active on different issues. He opened a tort law museum in Connecticut, and protests the all-you-can-eat foods at baseball stadiums. He also complains to Washington, D.C. authorities about No Left Turn signs.
Nader never married. His career is far more important to him than family. He still uses a typewriter when he writes.
