Born on December 8, 1953 in Athens Georgia, Kimila Ann Basinger used the name of Kim Basinger as her stage name. She was a shy child and her parents put into ballet to help. When Kim was sixteen she entered the Athens Junior Miss contest, won the Junior Miss Georgia title and went to New York to compete in the Junior Miss National Pageant. She received a contract with the Ford modeling agency and at the age of 20 was a top model. Kim materialized on many domestic and international magazine covers and in ads for products from makeup to hair color. She is best known for her modeling as the shampoo product Breck. She enrolled at the Neighborhood Playhouse and sang and acted on stage name as Chelsea.
In 1976 Kim moved to LA and had parts on Charlie's Angels. She was a Bond girl in Never Say Never Again in 1983 and in Nadine in 1987. She was the photojournalist in Batman in 1989. In 1993 she married Alec Baldwin and in 1995 she had a daughter Ireland. She took time off to raise her daughter and devoted time to animal rights issues and PETA. In 1997 Kim received an Oscar for L.A. Confidential. She earned $5,000,000 for I Dreamed of Africa in 2000.
