Jodie Foster was born Alicia Christian Foster on November 19, 1962 in Los Angeles, California. At the age of three Jodie acted in Coppertone sunblock commercials and when she was five she acted on Mayberry R.F.D. (1968). She also worked on the The Doris Day Show, Adam-12, The Courtship of Eddie's Father and the Partridge Family (1970). You can see Jodie in Bonanza (1959) and Gunsmoke in 1955. She gained critical attention in Taxi Driver (1976) and received her first Oscar nomination in Taxi Driver.
During her freshman year at college a crazy fan, John Hinckley, shot President Reagan to impress Jodie. She did go on to graduate from Yale with a degree in literature. She won her first Academy Award as Best Actress for her portrayal as a waitress in The Accused (1988). In 1991 Jodie starred as Clarice Starling and FBI trainee in Silence of the Lambs and Jodie won another Academy Award. She directed Little Man Tate (1991) and Home for the Holidays (1995).
In 1994 she played alongside with Mel Gibson in Maverick and then the title role in Nell (1994) which provided her with another Academy Award nomination. IN 1997 she played in the science fiction drama Contact and in 1999 played Anna in Anna and the King. Jodie continues to act in successful films with The Beaver in 2011, and Nim's Island in 2008. Jodie is one of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood.
