John Robert Cocker was born on May 20, 1944 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, UK. He is known to contort himself on stage and has a somewhat raspy voice. He began his career as a pop singer known as Vance Arnold. He had little success, but Joe Cocker found his calling singing rock and soul in England with The Grease Band. In 1968 his #1 it in the UK was A Little Help from My Friends. He against sang that song at Woodstock in 1969. His second hit was Delta Lady in 1969 and his albums, With a Little Help from My Friends in 1969 and Joe Cocker! In 1969 went gold in the U.S.
Cocker toured with Mad Dogs & Englishman (with 40 others) and the result was a gold album and concert film. Problems with alcohol changed Cocker's voice, but in 1975 he gained a U.S. Top Ten with You are so Beautiful. He hit the charts again with Jennifer Warnes on Up Where We Belong which is the theme song to An Officer and a Gentleman. He has continued to work thought the 2000s with his album Heart & Soul (2004). In 2012 he released Fire It Up that brought him back on top. Cocker is married to Pam Baker (1987 to the present.)
