Born on July 31, 1944 in Santa Monica, Geraldine Leigh Chaplin is the daughter of Charlie Chaplin and her grandfather is Eugene O'Neill. She learned her craft at the Royal Ballet Academy in London and was "discovered" while dancing in Paris. She played in Doctor Zhivago in 1965.
Geraldine had the role of her grandmother in Chaplin in 1992. Geraldine is fluent in Spanish and French, has been a member of the jury at the Cannes Film Festival in 1982. She is the winner of the best actress award at the Paris Film Festival for her part in Remember My Name (1978).
Geraldine is currently married to Patricio Castilla and they have one child. She has another child by a relationship with Carlos Saura.
