Patrick Swayze

Patrick Wayne Swayze was born August 18, 1952 in Houston, Texas and died on September 14, 2009 of pancreatic cancer. He trained at the Harkness Ballet School and Joffrey Ballet School. He danced professionally in Disney on Parade as Prince Charming. He was Danny Zuko in the original Broadway production Grease. Swayze made his film debut in Skatetown, U.S.A. in 1979. He debuted on M*A*S*H in 1972.
Swayze played supporting roles in films and the lead role in North and South in 1985. His best known performance is in Dirty Dancing in 1987 and he received a Golden Globe nomination. He received a second Gold Globe nomination for Ghost in 1990. In 1192 he stared in City of Joy, Tall Tale in 1995 and Black Dog in 1998. He returned to Broadway in 2003 in the musical Chicago. In 1989 he starred in Road House.
Swayze is known for his half salute and deep voice. He was married to Lisa Miemi from July 1975 until his death in 2009. Swayze has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was voted People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive in 1991.
