Quentin Jerome Tarantino born on March 27, 1963 in Knoxville Tennessee is a highly awarded director. His first film Reservoir Dogs (1992) was first seen at the Sundance Film Festival and gathered positive reviews. Tarantino was immediately touted as one of the best up and coming directors. Two years after this success he won the best director and best original screenplay at the Cannes Film Festival for his film Pulp Fiction (1994). Pulp Fiction was also nominated for best picture, director and original screenplay at the 1995 Academy Awards.
In 1995 Tarantino directed and helped write Four Rooms with Alexandre Rockwell, Allison Anders, and Robert Rodriquez. This film did not garner good reviews. In 1996 Tarantino wrote and acted in From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) featuring George Clooney. The vampire crime story did well at the box office.
Most of Tarantino's films have shots taken from inside a car trunk and he always has a Dutch element in his films. Many of Tarantino's films include a scene where three or more actors are aiming guns at the same time.
Tarantino has directed five actors in Oscar nominated performances: John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Robert Forster, Christoph Waltz and Samuel L. Jackson. Tarantino has been nominated for best director and best screenplay for his film Inglourious Basterds (2009). He wrote and directed the Kill Bill series with Uma Thurman and went on to meet critical success with Django Unchained (2013). He won an Academy Award for best original screenplay for Django Unchained.
Tarantino had a long-term relationship with Mira Sorvino, but is now focusing on his career.
