Robert De Niro

Robert De Niro is thought by some to be one of the greatest actors of his time. He was born in New York on August 17, 1943 with the birth name of Robert Anthony De Niro Jr. His first role was Bang the Drum Slowly in 1973 and he further embellished his reputation as a volatile actor in Mean Streets in 1973.
In 1974 De Niro received an Academy Award for his role in The Godfather: Part II. He also received Academy Award nomination for best actor in Taxi Driver in 1976, The Deer Hunter in 1978 and Cape Fear in 1991. He won best actor in 1980 for Raging Bull. De Niro has his own production company Tribeca Film Center and is also a director. De Niro plays characters that are brutal and violent or psychotic. He learns his parts by studying backgrounds, characters and mannerisms. As a result his acting is intense and passionate.
De Niro began his love for acting at 10 when he was the cowardly lion in a school play. He dropped out of high school, joined a gang, and embraced his ? Italian heritage. He gained over 60 pounds for his role in Raging Bull (1980), but has since lost all the weight. De Niro is ranked #78 in Premier's 2002 annual Power 100 List and was voted as the best actor of all time at Film Four.com in 2002.
De Niro can be seen in Analyze This (1999), Analyze That (2002) and Hide and Seek in 2005. You will rarely see De Niro doing interviews; he is a very ultra-private celebrity. When being interviewed, De Niro has specifically asked not to discuss, his family, his interest in fine, wines, politics and religion. De Niro is not a generous tipper and is often referred to as "No Dinero."
De Niro has also shown his comedic side in Meet the Fockers in 2004 and Little Fockers in 2010. He is currently married to Grace Hightower and they have two children. He was previously married to Diahnne Abbot and they had two children. His current film is Grudge Match with Sylvester Stallone.
