Paul Newman

Paul Leonard Newman is a superstar and man with the most gorgeous blue eyes in movie history. He was born in Cleveland Ohio on January 26, 1925. Newman started his career by acting in school plays. He graduated from Kenyon College and attended Yale Drama School for one year. Newman next attended the famed New York Actor's Studio.

Newman's first professional appearance was in Picnic on Broadway and he acted in The Silver Chalice in 1954. He felt his portrayal was so awful in this film he took out an ad in a trade paper and apologized for his appearance. He played boxer Rocky Graziano in Somebody Up There Likes Me in 1956 and critics loved Newman. He went on to star in The Hustler, Hud, Cool Hand Luck and The Prize. Fans love him in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Newman produced Rachel, Rachel. This film garnered an Oscar nomination for best picture. Newman finally won an Oscar for his performance in The Color of Money. Well into his 70s Newman acted in high end films similar to Message in a Bottle (1999).

Paul founded "Newman's Own" a successful line of food products. Every bit of profit from this enterprise is donated to charity. It is estimated that this company has earned over $100 million. It is probable that Newman has donated over $380 million to charities.

Newman was an accomplished race car driver and was often seen racing on the Lime Rock Road Circuit in Connecticut. He also formed the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp for children with cancer and blood-related diseases and organized a fall "Discovery" program for intercity children.

Newman won awards for acting. He was nominated eight times for an Academy Award, six nominations for the Golden Globe Awards, the Screen Actors Guild Award and a Cannes Film Festival Award. He has also won an Emmy Award and many honorary awards. Newman is a championship driver for the Sports Car Club of America and his racing teams have won many championships in IndyCar open wheel racing.
