Algol

Also called Caput Algol, a malefic fixed star, representing the Gorgon whose hair was composed of snakes. At 26 degrees 10' Taurus in 2000. Treated as a malefic and used mostly in horary, electional, and mundane astrology. Figuratively signifies decapitation ("losing one's head"). Caput Algol represents the snake-haired Gorgon whom Perseus beheaded using a mirror, symbolizing cleverness.
