Meridian

A GREAT CIRCLE, specific to a location on earth, perpendicular to the Horizon, intersecting it at its north and south points and passing through the Nadir and Zenith. The Sun is on the meridian at apparent Noon. It is divided into two semi-circles: the upper meridian, which lies above the horizon; and the lower meridian, which lies beneath the horizon.
