Affliction

An outdated term, which considered certain aspect or positions to be bad. Contemporary astrology teaches there are no such things as just good or bad aspects but the term is still used in Horary Astrology. Many astrologers now include all eighth harmonic aspects (45?° multiples) in this category. This produces some tension and lack of ease between the planets. The more afflictions a planet receives, the more problems and challenges that planet will cause in the personality.
