Chiron

Asteroidal body discovered in 1977 by Charles Kowal. Sidereal period 50.68 years. It is named after Chiron, the wise Centaur (half man, half horse), who tutored many Greek heroes. Astrologers have not settled its rulership but have worked mainly with Sagittarius and Virgo. The astrological symbolism of Chiron includes teacher and healer.
